Multimedia is the integration of various types of media; sound,
imaging, video and animation into a new digital format. The Master
of Science in Multimedia at D.C.U was established in 1999 and is
presented by the School of Communications. It is a one-year full-time
programme with the thesis group project having to be completed between
May and August. It is a taught course with a focus on the authoring,
design and publishing of digital content products and services.
There is an emphasis placed on a 'learn by doing' approach which
gives the students
the opportunity to try their hand at everything from image production,
editing, shooting
digital video to writing computer code for use in dynamic web pages.
The students come from a diversity of backgrounds and disciplines
which allows them to share the skills they have acquired with each
other, and put them to use in a positive and creative learning environment.
